Otsby & Barton Victorian ruby ring
This ring is an amazing find. This ring was made by Otsby Barton, the Hallmark had almost worn away. It is solid 10k with the diamond with a dot Hallmark indicating that this ring has a gemstone that was made with it. It also has patina around the edge of the prongs due to age, which I will not polish because it gives it character. This ring was made around 1885-1895 This ruby was determined by a jeweler that it is an “imitation ruby” with this is a Victorian ring, its not a doublet or a Garnet with a ruby doublet on top. It is what we call a “Geneva ruby, or a repurposed ruby” meaning, they were actually created by melting small, low-quality, or fragmented natural rubies together.
